From January 1, 2019, new laws regulating the gambling sector come into force in Sweden. One of the first to secure a job in this market from next year was Yggdrasil and NetEnt. These two fierce competitors secured a contract with Svenska Spel in October. So far, this is a Swedish monopoly in the online casino industry, but from the beginning of 2019 the market will be open to other operators.

Instead of blocking all gambling sites, the government decided to repeal the monopoly and let operators enter the market. In this way they will be able to maintain control over the industry and will regulate it.
In both cases, a representative from Svenska Spel noted that NetEnt/Yggdrasil was the obvious choice for them as a software provider. The casino made the right choice. Both operators are now leaders in the field of gambling development.
It is also clear that the number of NetEnt casinos and Yggdrasil casinos in Sweden will grow with each new license issued by the Swedish regulator. This is a very rich market, and only the most responsible operators will be allowed to enter it. For this, the corresponding requirements have already been created.
Under the new rules, money transfers between unlicensed casinos and players will be blocked. And advertising gambling without a license will be considered a crime. Most likely, it will be a highly regulated market, something like the UK. According to some reports, the license will cost from 400,000 to 700,000 SEK, which is currently approximately $44,000 - $77,000.
